Photorealism knob... my first attempt.

@dustbro there is no strip.
what are you using for making 3d images to a stitched image? -
@orange the strip is all those little dots under HORIZONTAL. Do they not show up for ya?
I'm using Blender 3D

I saw this pic done with Blender and got inspired
-
Well you‘re almost there ;)
But I am not seeing the filmstrip, might be possible that the image is too big for the forum.
-
@christoph-hart interesting... I'll update the first post with a wetransfer link
-
if i can give you my opinion : really good. but:
try to put a small light in front- right to avoid the noise on your white section.
I use Cinema 4D with light kit studio pro (HDRI) from greyscaleGorilla for my renders. With HDRI-PBR light planes it's really good.it's long to create/render 3D, making filmstrip. but it's for me the best result. i hate plate vector style. just useful for android.
Just see the Arturia's product. So awesome.
Good job on Blender. continue ! :D

@staiff it seems like lighting is the most important thing in 3D rendering. I have 2 light sources at the moment. I think I'm going to recreate the atmosphere in my studio.... window from front and sides, plus 4 overhead lights
-
@dustbro
Yes lighting is very important, but it's also the "stuff" who can destroy your rendering (burning the image with the lights).That's why i use now HDR maps and 1 or 2 lights.
I don't use Blender, so i don't know how to do it, and if HDR skymap exists (in plugin), but the better way is create an half sphere, setting it as a light source, put an HDR map in it (powerful free HDR maps here: https://hdrihaven.com). and adding 1 or 2 lights with somewhat like 30% or 50 % lighting and put the 2 lights just where the shadow create noise.
the good thing is also put a 50% light behind the object to separate it from the background and sharpening the edge. -

seems that you don't have to create a light dome in Blender but using the environment map.!

@dustbro wow!! 3d makes a difference. Ive done my UIs on Adobe Illustrator. The main thing I learned is size rules. Doing a lot of detail for a final 36px knob does not makes sense in my opinion. But figuring out the entire UI on 3D and then rendering knobs with same lightning will be perfect.

Work in progress :-)
-
@bastiaan wow!!!!
-
Looking good!
I'm almost finished with my GUI as well :) -
-
Might have to hire one of you guys for a project I have in mind...
-
A friend of mine has started developing 3D GUI components too. I've just been testing one in HISE.
-
@d-healey nice!!!!!
-
-
Made with Cinema 4D. Plugin has been modeled with over 600 math functions to capture the sound of the gear....
-
@orange Never thought another fellow Turk is interested in HISE at all. That's a very cool looking panel, rock on!
