that sadly doesn't look to apply for us

I've just emailed JUCE for clarification, I don't trust GPT.

@d-healey that's a better idea. I think chatGPT also told me to email juce to be sure. So you went ahead :)

Could you let us know what the answer from JUCE is? That would be great! :-)

@Oli-Ullmann Of course! That is the only reason I emailed them :) I use the GPL license so it doesn't affect me.

Most JUCE license agreements are covering all versions up to this number so you can get a JUCE 8 license for using JUCE 6 (otherwise nobody could start using HISE now)

The personal license might be a special case because it wasn‘t (nag) free with prior JUCE versions so if you hear back from the JUCE devs it would be interesting to hear (I vaguely remember discussing this back at the JUCE 8 license turmoil but it got buried under the noise).

                  Not $20.00 it is $20,000

                    Just got a reply.

A JUCE 8 licence grants you the right to use all previous versions of JUCE too, so you can indeed use JUCE 6 on a JUCE 8 Starter licence.

@d-healey But do you have to follow the rules of Juce 6? (https://juce.com/legal/juce-6-license/) Because Juce 6 Personal (equivalent to Juce 8 Starter) required the splash screen, which is not used in Hise.

@bendurso no, as the statement above says, you can use JUCE 6 with a JUCE 8 license as if it would be JUCE 8.

@Christoph-Hart Oh got it, you can use Juce 6, but you have to follow the rules of Juce 8 (whatever starter, indie or pro)
