@Glyn Oh yeah, that's what I would have suggested first – watch David's video on that. That will guide you pretty well through this process.
And what's important too (maybe David even says that in the video): Make sure you get the appropriate XCode Version for your machine/system. I'm running Mojave 10.14.6 with XCode 10.3. I don't know what I have done wrong, I just recompiled it again, but this time I didn't use the autogenerated batch file, but just resaved the juce file manually after making sure, the flag was put inside the preprocessor definitions and now it works fine! 🤦🏼♂

Also worth mentioning (if only 'cos it doesn't seem to have been talked about round here) is the file players signal_in mode. When active, the sample is triggered by and derives its pitch from an incoming audio signal. For this kind of thing a clocked ramp works best.

@Dan-Korneff just modulate the gate knob and you're fine, you might want to slap a cable_expr node in front of it so you can customize the formula when to set the gate (also a envelope_follower might be a better source than a peak node as it allows you to smooth the value better).

@Christoph-Hart Two interesting things I noticed with my "fix". Debug builds of HISE give a segfault, and my compiled plugin crashes pluginval. I guess this is related to the leak problem.

However it's much more pleasant to work in HISE when I don't have this slow issue so I'm thinking a pre-processor definition is the way to go until a proper fix is possible.
