    • Are you the partner for my project?

      Hey all
As a natural outcome of my background as a graphic designer, photographer, conceptual creator — producer and musician it appears obvious that there would come a day where I got the idea to create my own instruments. That time has now come come.

I’ve been lurking and learning here for a while, and at this point I thought it made sense to write a more open-ended post rather than another technical question.

I’m currently working on a HISE-based sample instrument project and I’m already fairly deep into it. I’m actively building in HISE myself, but I’m still relatively new to the heavier development side — C++, Scriptnode internals, custom DSP, and the more advanced architectural decisions. That part both fascinates me and reminds me why good tools benefit from more than one mind.

The project itself is not about cramming in features. Quite the opposite, actually. I’m very focused on sound, simplicity, usability, and inspiration — instruments that feel good to use, are quick to understand, and offer real value rather than checkbox complexity. Fewer controls, clearer intent, and better musical decisions baked in.

My background is in music production, sound design, and design thinking. I handle the sampling, instrument concepts, UI/UX, visual identity, web, and the overall product direction. I care deeply about how things feel — not just sonically, but ergonomically and conceptually. If something looks good but doesn’t invite you to play, it’s not finished.

What I’m putting out there is not a job offer, but a possible partnership. I’m curious whether there’s someone here who enjoys the technical depth of HISE — scripting, Scriptnode, DSP, performance-safe solutions — and who might be interested in building something together over time. Not as a rushed release, and not as unpaid grunt work, but as a shared project with clear roles and real ownership if it grows into something commercial.

I already have a roadmap and several concrete instrument ideas, but I value discussion, challenge, and iteration a lot. I’m not looking to hand everything off — I want to stay involved in the technical side as well — but I do believe that strong instruments are almost always the result of collaboration between sound, design, and engineering.

If any of this resonates — or if you’re simply curious — feel free to reply here or send me a DM. Even a conversation would be valuable.

But I had not figured out at this tage of my developing career

As you can gather from the thread, neither had we 😁

Hahaha... Yeah, it was not something that were just shut down as a trivial newbie question 😁
Aa a musical concept I feel it is very overlooked. People are dropping so many "wider-bigger" statements all the time - but to me stereo and widening is something different. Though the wide effect comes with voice spread it still serves a more musical purpose when playing chords.

Like writing scores to each musician and placing them in the room.

Happy you helped the long birth of a very simple child .

    • New to HISE, the forum – and a question about Voice Spread

      Hi All
I am new to HISE developing (apart from a little Max 4 Live).

I am working on my first instrument — a small sample based synth, and would like do have any second voice pan left and any second right light know from classic Oberheims and modern Sequential synths. I will have multiple samplers (OSCs) so I am looking to implement globally.

The important thing here is that any voice wail sustain (if long)...in ex. Left channel regardless of if a new note is triggered (in the right channel). I been looking into multiple Scriptnode nodes like routing.event.data, jpanner, container.split but since this is totally new land to me I have still not successful ;-) Since we are not talking about a simple audio panner I am more into something that maybe requires some math fed into some kind of split function.

It should be straightforward I am sure.
I have looked on the forums, yet not found advice that I could use.

      Thanks

No worries... in fact I've manage to solve most with the help of ChatGPT.
The noise is somehow gone – I did not ask for it though hahaha...
Then I figured out to place it in a MIDI container node where everything working fine.
It might not be a precise OB-8 model, but I think it sounds great though – and after the rewrite of the code it is running fine as a polyphonic filter – though I feel it had the cost of some sonic quality.

    • Understanding fundamental "bridging" between Scriptnote and Module Tree

      Hi
I really enjoy having started with HISE. As a +20 Graphic design professional, phograper and musician this is new territory in so many ways. It is something totally different. Fortunately I have great experience in learning (curves – and a big patience.

Yes I struggle figuring out how to (and sorry for the untechnical lingo here) "connect" Scriptnodes and the module tree.

Ex. I have created a Korg35 filter with Faust, A hardcoded OB8 filter based on some old C++ code and also fiddled around with envelopes and modulators in Scriprnode. Common to these (obviously) is that none of them expose any visual controls or "mod source +" in the module tree. This perhaps makes totally sense to the trained eye, but to me it appears to be cumbersome to create ex an envelope for the filter inside of Scriptnode.

I've tried recompiling HISE with extra mod controls - but this only applies to Hardcoded Master FX and not Polyphonic (and I still have to figure out how to assign paramaters to the controls (1-6)Screenshot 2026-01-17 at 16.03.28.png

      How can I connect these?

Thanks you in advance for someone explaining og linking to documentation on this – I've really spent hours searching.

Thanks for giving it a try – yeah I've been trying something out in Scriptnode – but succes here yet. Maybe I aimed too high for my current skills hahah :-)

      @David-Healey
… though I can’t figure out the place the send. Well it works fine but appears that it - regardless of where I place it - is placed post fader, as it would be called in a DAW, so it is the panned signal which is send and returned from the Send Container.

      @David-Healey
I think it is just me who will have to learn to crate a send and a return. As an insert it behaves as expected. When left played the reverb is in left. I want the effects (reverb, panning delay) to be stereo... so I will need to create a send and return .... and that is something else I admit :-)
