Do send containers work in effect plugins?
-
@d-healey I think you have to set the
Enable Sound Generators FX
flag in the project settings, but then it should process Send Containers and Global Modulation Containers. -
@Christoph-Hart Thanks, I'll give it a try

I think I know the answer, but do normal container work in effects plugins?
-
@d-healey they work but don't process audio afaik
-
@DanH If I put an effect in the container will that effect affect the audio? :)
-
@d-healey not in my project! Only effects in the master fx chain work
-
@Christoph-Hart so a send container seems to process the audio fine in an fx plugin, however it routes it back into the master fx chain (I think) and therefore creates a feedback loop as the only place you can send a signal from is the mater fx chain. Is there a way around this? I'm trying with different routing combinations but nothing is sticking so far...
-
@DanH you can use 4 channels in the master fx, put the send effects in 1+2 and route the send container to 3/4 which you then sum to one stereo out in the master routing matrix but yeah I agree it‘s a bit weird.
Also it will introduce a delay of one buffer for the send signal so this entire concept is a bit flawed for audio effects.

@Christoph-Hart @Christoph-Hart ok I’ll avoid it for now . Did the damp knob ever get fixed in the scriptnode reverb module? I think it was doing the same job as width last time I checked.

Hello. I trying to experiment with send containers but when i exported FX plugin it's not working and not change sound in any way. What i doing wrong? I enabled that FX setting in Project settings, but still no result.
-
did you do this?

@Lindon yes, but it's not working. Processor usage indicates that it's processing the send effect but there is no sound of it. Sure, i did something wrong but no idea what :)
-
@ForeverLive You've set it to channel 2, why? Does it work in HISE? You can test by adding a sine wave gen (or other sound generator)
-
@d-healey i set it to channel 2 because it was not working with channel 0. And yes, in HISE everything is working well. Keep trying!

@d-healey Ok i assume there is no other way to make a chain of effects with dry/wet control?

@d-healey so send container not working because of a bug? I removed feedback loop with additional 2 channels but it's still not working in FX plugin. Just makes no sound no matter what settings i used.
-
@ForeverLive As far as I know they do work... post a snippet for us to test
-
@d-healey i think i know what is happening. It's working but ableton ignore all the channels. Only first 2 makes sound, any other channels are just quiet. I tried send container, i tried 4 channel master with routing matrix on beginning and the end of a chain - it's all just hopeless. And what about the method you mentioned earlier (that link) - it's outdated and it seems like there is no way to send sound in a container. Not a send container, but regular container.
