is VST3 experimental Hise?
-
@d-healey Do you know if there is there any big benefit to using the HISE exported VST3? Does HISE do any optimizations with it?
-
I don't know, I've not done any tests. I would assume there is some performance benefit with it being a newer standard but then again it would probably vary between implementations.
-
That was my guess as well.

VST3 works fine on Windows and MacOS, not available on GNU/Linux though (unless you're using JUCE 6 - no idea if it's possible with HISE). If you're not using my hise exporter app then you'll need to fiddle around with the SDK location to get it working (search the forum, it's been covered a few times).
It is good to know that, thanks. So VST3 is officially supported in Hise?
-
@Fortune - unless you already have a license from Steinberg you cant use VST2

Yeah I know that already.
Because of that, what I need to know is, whether vst3 is official in Hise or not.
As I understand, it is still experimental in Hise, although vst3 exported plugins is working.
-
@Fortune nope its "official" (afaik)

I haven't bothered with VST3 myself yet, because I'm one of the lucky ones that grabbed a VST2 license a few weeks before they closed it :)
It's still experimental in the sense that the export process might not be as smooth as VST2, but once you get it exported, there are no known issues that are specific to this platform (in the sense that something works as VST2 but doesn't as VST3).

-- I also have a VST2 license, but I've done quite a number of VST3 exports (As most of my clients DONT have a VST2 license) and they all work no problems....

I understand, Thank you, I will try VST3
