Being a Hise noob, are there any fee's involved to hise or the juce people if plugins are sold or distributed with commercial daws?

@pcs800 If you are releasing a proprietary (closed source) plugin then you need a HISE license and a JUCE license. If you release it under the GNU GPL then you'd need a license.

Whether you sell it or give it away for free makes no difference to the license requirements.

@d-healey so no fees if you release source code, correct?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

No fees if you release under the GPL license.

No fees if you release under the GPL license.

So if my plugins are free, there's no hise or juce fee. Is this correct?

Also, I see hise is about $50 USD/month./ Does this subscription need to be active only during development, or the entire time I am selling the plugins?
IE: If I have the subscription for 6 months, make 4 plugins, then cancel the sub. Can I still sell the plugins?

No, the price makes absolutely no difference. All that matters is the license you release your plugins under. GPL = no fees, anything else = fees.

Ask Christoph, I don't know the details of the license.

@d-healey Well... if I release them under GPL and can still charge for them, then that seems like the way to go. All I would need to do is post a link to the source code or deliver it with the purchased plugin, right?

@pcs800 You only need to pay the license if and for as long you distribute a closed-source project. During development you don't need any license at all as you're not publishing anything.
