BAD BAD BAD HISE!
-
Now HISE is being even more strange
-
Awwww! :O
-
I just converted all of my sample maps to monoliths and so far (fingers crossed) everything seems to be working. So maybe HISE is having some problems with wav files...
-
I've been having no luck with the sampler in the latest build. Check this thread for more:

Could be a CPU issue... I can't make monoliths on my PC, but can on my mac. Either way, I get errors on both when creating monoliths

Oh no EVERYTHING is gone now... none of the hip files have anything in them the xml doesnt work - @Christoph its now useless -
every single autosave is now empty
All I get from HISE is:
ModernistXylophone:! Component with name wasn't found
-
This post is deleted! -
Oh I go one to open....its an old back up but..
-
Wow, this is like going to the supermarket, coming back and your house is on fire :)
So first things first: @Lindon, if you have any file somewhere that contains more than just zero byte, send it to me and I'll try to recover it. I assume you have made backup copies, otherwise, please use Git in the future and take this as a (admittingly annoying) lesson.
@d-healey Can you explain the exact process needed to reproduce this issue (I get that it has something to do with changing types of components), but I lost track of where you put it.
To the other people: please make a separate thread for every bug. A general "HISE IS BAD" thread is not the smartest way to get heard :)

Actually all my problems stopped once I converted the wavs to a monolith :)
-
Yes, this is in fact a problem, because I also convert the sample to monoliths as soon as they are edited, so I don't enjoy the bugginess of HISE's playback of non-monolithed files (I consider using .wav files in HISE as a small intermediate step, but maybe I am wrong with this assumption).
-
I just tried:
Convert all Samples to Monolith + SampleMap
and HISE tells me:
you need a sampler with the name 'Sampler' in the Master Chain
-
you need a sampler with the name 'Sampler' in the Master Chain
I know the documentation is lacking, but this one is pretty self descriptive :)
-
WHY would I need that - I want to name my samplers after the voices!
-
That's actually just a workflow tool. It converts the samplemaps in your
SampleMap
directory to HLACs. Your actual project XML has nothing to do with this.- Create a new instrument
- Add a sampler
- Run the tool
- Load your actual project and hope that it loads :)
- Enjoy HLAC
-
So I have 4 samplers named: Voice1 Voice2 Voice3 Voice4
So I've added a 5th one called "Sampler"
I've run "the tool" - which I think you mean Tools->Convert all samples to Monolith+SampleMap
So now I can remove "Sampler" ?

Create a new instrument

Run the tool
Load your actual project and hope that it loads
Enjoy HLACBut even this set of instructions doesnt work:
- Create a new instrument - check new directory created all good - empty HISE
2 Add a sampler - check a sampler called "Sampler1" is added to the Master Chain - Run the tool - fail with "you need a sampler with the name 'Sampler' in the Master Chain"
However if you do as Christoph suggests ( I renamed Sampler1 to Sampler)
it will load hip files - Create a new instrument - check new directory created all good - empty HISE
-
@Lindon You're using the wrong tool as I assume you have already made your sample maps.
This is what you want: Reencode all sample maps as HLAC monolith.
-
OK thanks found that, done that - how do I know it did anything? where should I look for these monoliths?
