Noise/audio as mod source?
-
Hi all, does anyone know of a way to route the output of the noise generator in the module list to modulate filter cutoff? Or alternatively, the audio output of the loop player. I imagine it's done with Scriptnode and maybe an envelope follower, but I'm getting a little lost. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be extremely helpful :)
-
@paper_lung you want audio rate randomised modulation?
-
@Lindon No not audio rate modulation, I want to use the audio output of either the noise generator (or any other sound sources) to modulate other parameters. I think this can be done within script-node with an envelope follower, but unsure how to hook that up to sound sources within the module tree.

@paper_lung the noise generator generates signal at audio rate...
-
@Lindon Ok, but how does one go about using that as a modulation source?
-
@paper_lung In scriptnode you can use the core.osc node, set the waveshape to noise, and set the frequency to between 0-20Hz, and link that to a filter within your scriptnode chain. Not sure how to send the signal out from there if you want to modulate something else in your module tree, though probably with global cables?
I can't imagine you could use the audio output from a loop player as the signal rate would be way too fast.

@paper_lung said in Noise/audio as mod source?:
Ok, but how does one go about using that as a modulation source?
Create a script time variant modulator and create your DSP network there. Don't forget to wrap it into a NO MIDI node.
At least I think that's it.
Just discussed with Chris about the lack of documentation on this one in another thread

AFAIK, audio rate modulation signals need to be within the same network as whatever you are modulating.. you can't route such signals to other HISE modules. Here's how I'd go about it:

I've tried to get a natural (analog) sounding effect here, but disabling either the fix or frame containers will produce different kinds of responses (more like a fast random modulation?) . The oscillator can be replaced with a file player if you'd rather use samples..

@modularsamples This is great stuff, thanks. Howcome this is contained within a fix8_block? I'm new to script node, so unsure what that's doing.
