I've built my UI on my Mac. When I transfer the project to my PC the general resolution drops. Particularly the font - which I assume is a vector?

I can probably sort the knobs out with a bit of rescaling, but the font looks very sad indeed! Any advice welcome!! Thanks

(also: when I select Use OpenGL option on my MAC plugin, the resolution drops to the same as the Windows plugin - wondering if there's something going on with OpenGL on PC?!)

@DanH I don't know about OpenGL, although fonts are not showing the same on both OS so you need a different font for each

@ustk @DanH You Need A Good And Standard Font.
          Get Noto Sans By Google,
It's Modern, Smooth n Works in Both OS Worlds.

Use The Attached Font, These Are Light, And Cross Platform.

                  It might be DAW specific?

@dustbro thanks mate that's interesting... The drop in quality is reflected in HISE itself (on PC) as well as in the DAWs, but will dig further through this thread!

So I've managed to overcome some of my UI resolution gremlins by using proper scaling - it's not something I'd given much thought to previously as (according to a dev I've been speaking with) Juce is very good at rescaling on Mac, but less so on PC.

My knobs and everything looked fine on Mac, but there was all sorts of weird scaling going on behind the scenes. Somehow, using proper scaling has even corrected the font in my plugin on windows - even though I haven't done anything to the font. In general all my knobs and images etc all look like they should 🙂

I do think the the font could be scaled better however, as when using OpenGL the resolution drops. Can anyone give some advice on using fonts correctly in HISE? Any rules or things not to do. I'm using all sorts of font sizes.

@DanH I've definitely noticed this and mentioned it back in this thread late last year.

@DanH For images, I found that applying a tiny blur to the edges using photoshop smooths out the images, making them sit nicely on both Windows & Mac.
If I don't do this then edges appear jagged on Windows.
I actually stumbled across this by accident but it definitely works... My go to solution at the moment ☺
