Synth Building question.
-
I am making my first synth (Sample based) and I am trying to wrap my head around the filters , as far as I can tell the FX filter is not suitable , it seems to come on top of everything , unsure why as I am sure it would be useful to be able to place it anywhere but I digress :)
-
So what I have is the polyphonic filters and I am not sure how they work , why exactly are they called polyphonic ? Its not like there is one for each note ?
-
What is the benefit of using Synthesizer groups , would that be suitable for 2 osc going into the same filter and same ADSR for example ? I can see the benefit in the detune , but what does the spread do ?
-
Can I place the filter where I want if I use NodeScript ?
-
I wanted to perhaps use the ScriptTable for the Custom LFO , is there not a way to customize the colours or remove the value popup ?
Any advice for synth building is appreciated :)

well I can answer one bit...
Synthesizer groups are , as you note, most useful(to me at least) as they offer the unison control:
which has
a. Voices - number of voices to use
b: Detune - the amount of detune between voices
C: Spread - the stereo spread(position amount) of each voice <-- look at that what the forum does to C followed by colon..Or at least thats how I've always seen them...
On top of that theres some FM facility(very very simple) allowing you to use two voices from those inside your Synthesizer group
Plus you can add a range of modulators and FX to be applied to this "group" of sound generators...

Polyphonic filters are polyphonic (= one filter per voice), thats why they go to the top (before the voices get summed)
-
@Christoph-Hart Ok, can I somehow make them not polyphonic to simulate the ususal analog synth behaviour , not many synths have polyphonic filters. Although I guess if it shares the same ADSR and retriggers that ...
But that would bring up opposite question , can I make a true Polyphonic synth :) ?
Maybe I am just confused by the terminology a bit.

As long as you dont use a polyphonic modulator it will render the sum of the voices to save CPU
