Celemony releases ARA SDK under open source license

Don't know if this is of some import for HISE users; in any cas, I drop it here:

-
If I recall they released it under the Apache license which isn't compatible with the GNU GPL.
-
@d-healey Actually, in the article they say that it will be also compatible with the GNU GPL.
"Right now, the fully revised and expanded ARA Audio Random Access Software Development Kit is available under the Apache 2.0 license, which also makes integration into projects with open-source licenses such as GNU GPLv3 possible"
-
Oh yeah, it's GPLv2 that's incompatible :)
-
@alepan said in Celemony releases ARA SDK under open source license:
GPLv3
HISE and JUCE are GPL v3...

Taken from the post ....

"""Right now, the fully revised and expanded ARA Audio Random Access Software Development Kit is available under the Apache 2.0 license, which also makes integration into projects with open-source licenses such as GNU GPLv3 possible. Interested developers can take advantage – free from licensing costs – of the full range of the ARA specification 2.0, which also covers more recent ARA features such as chord tracks, expanded copy & paste support, optimized routing and improved comping and editing. The SDK allows seamless integration with popular development tools such as Git and Cmake. It includes detailed documentation of the interface as well as the entire integration process and extensive library code, plus numerous code examples and options for validating the ARA implementation. Celemony is accompanying this with an open-source example of ARA integration into the JUCE framework, currently one of the audio industry's leading development environments."""

Yes ARA would be good in Hise.
But firstly, we need a previously reported ton's of bugs fixed and proper working scriptnode version. When all of the buggy parts of the Hise that making a big problems while operating the plugins is fixed, then we can ask secondary options like ARA :)
I hope @Christoph-Hart would solve the previously reported bugs and make Hise much more better.
-
Actually I don't see a real benefit from adding ARA to HISE so the chances that it will be prioritized before finishing script node are rather slim.
