There are a few other exotic file formats that are supported (.mp3 and .ogg), but REX is a proprietary format developed by Propellerhead and they obviously don't like the decoder being embedded into a open source project.

Uhm. Got it. I just asked that because I want that my audio sample follows the hosts bpm without changing the pitch .. any idea?

you have to slice it yourself and script the playback...
