Apple Dev Enrollment Time
-
Anyone know how long it takes to get a dev account? I started the enrollment process about a week ago but haven't heard anything. When I log in to my account it says
Your enrollment is being processed
. I did notice that the Apple dev enrollment people visited my website the other day though... -
@d-healey keep us updated. I'm about to enroll as well.
-
@d-healey What is the Apple Dev account needed for?
-
@gorangrooves You need it to sign your installers and apps for macOS. It is a mandatory security standard since macOS Catalina, as I understand it.
-
And a necessity for ipad/iphone app development
-
Today I had a call from the Apple dev team to verify that I'm a real person :)
And now I have to agree to their terms and conditions. Reading through the contract this bit stood out as interesting.
You agree not to install, use or run the Apple SDKs on any non-Apple-branded computer, and not to install, use or run iOS, watchOS, tvOS, iPadOS, macOS and Provisioning Profiles on or in connection with devices other than Apple-branded products, or to enable others to do so.
Good job I got a Mac Mini and didn't build a hackintosh as was my original plan :)
Applications must comply with the Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) and other Documentation provided by Apple.
I will be checking out that documentation!
You must provide a privacy policy in Your Application
Good thing we have the markdown panel

Oh come on, I have a Hackintosh build... So I'll have to build on my lame MacBook to be safe
-
I know a few people who build and sign iOS apps with a hackintosh so I would be too paranoid...
-
@clumsybear I'm just quoting the T&C's I doubt there is any way for Apple to actually know - although maybe they've added something in Catalina to detect Hackintosh builds, who knows!
-
Yes, I am aware of the situation, but since Catalina's new security measures have arrived, it would make sense for Apple to check the developers' machine IDs so that they can be sure that their closed environment is safe and clean, which wouldn't be such a problem for Apple.
But yes.... maybe not, who knows. In the end, I'm still using their operating system to deliver something for macOS that should be enough commitment to Apple :)

@d-healey Apple love to complicate things for developers, it seems. Please keep us posted on how everything goes and any pointers you may have.

You have your account ready? I just seen that I need this weird DUNS code or something like this ... it's pretty annoying. Is having website is really needed? My company name is completely different from the one I work under.
-
@arminh If you have a company then you probably already have a DUNS. If you're registering as an individual then you won't have and don't need a DUNS. I registered as my company.
