DB label linked to slider

Hi all, I want to add a label that displays the DB level that is linked to a simple gain control. So essentially, a user will be able to drag and down on the label to set the volume, rather than a slider (I'll hide the slider with an empty png and cover the label with it, essentially!)

Does anyone know how to go about this?
