Number select – is there a cleaner solution for this?
-
I just finished my lovely lil mono synth and I am very happy with it, but… My waveform selector is a knob and I recognized that it is not usual for a mac user to use a PC mouse with a stepped wheel like I do, so now I worry about whether I should realize my fancy waveform-selctor (green digits on the right) in a very different way I have no idea what it should be like.
The problem is: with a stepped wheel mouse it is very comfortable to dial this number up and down but for somebody that uses a standard apple (style) mouse it dials way too fast. But since I want to have it as pixel image, I can't use the HISE built-in combo box. Any ideas how to solve this?

@Frankbeat use mouse sensitivity..

Add two buttons that step it up/down

How about a slider like a scrub wheel that user can click n drag? Just another knob linked to the number select.

@Lindon I had that idea but it turned out this is only affecting the sensitivity of a click-and-drag move.
I guess I have to forget about the scroll feature for apple mouses. What @d-healey suggested seems to be the best solution for me. I'm gonna add 2 tiny buttons to increment and decrement.
Thank you all!

Vielen Dank, dass Sie das Problem angesprochen haben.
You could also skin a combobox with filmstrips using a custom look and feel.
- Load the image to the LAF object
- Use the drawComboBox() method and draw the image with a calculated y-offset derived from the combobox value.

@Christoph-Hart Thanks! That sounds interesting, too. I will have to look into this LAF thing. I thought I would not need it since I will always mess with pixel images. I have to watch David's video on that matter.
