Shape FX in guitar distortion pedal or Guitar Amp?
-
Hi,
Can we use Shape FX unit for guitar distortion pedal or Guitar Amp modeling? -
@orange sry for reviving this thread but i am also interested if anyone has made some guitar amps (distorting, overdriven) in HISE and what the best approach would be :) Also in terms of custom frequency responses if thats not too advanced for Hise.

I would design the overdrive stage in scriptnode, put it in a oversample container and then slap a convolution reverb with cabinet IRs behind it.

@Straticah For Shape FX, you can use Hyperbolic Tangent (Tanh) mode to give similar guitar distortion fx.
You can also use
snex_shaper
orsnex
nodes with some filterig (I think Scriptnode way is better than Shape FX) to make a wave shaper to distort signal. (Can be used both for OD Pedals and Amps)For the cabs, like @Christoph-Hart said, IR would be the way to go.

Guitar "distortion" tends to be a recreation of effects pedals - which use more than just tanh shaping - they tend to add an eq bump and dip (shelving) too - one pre shaper one post shaper... use different ordering and freq to get to overdrive and distortion
