So I've used Sublime Text a lot but as my (very) gradual move to open source tools I wanted to move away - I know Atom - but its sunset so not much change going in there - any one have a good (and equally powerful) alternative?

          CudaText.

I'm still using Atom and I think there is now a maintained community version but I haven't looked into it yet.

If you want something simple, fast, and highly customizable (but also more limited because there aren't that many plugins available) then take a look at TextAdept.

@Lindon i would say the industry standard nowadays is VSCode or VSCodium. I've been using it for years and only have the best things to say about that!

@oskarsh Isn't that an IDE rather than a text editor?

@d-healey No, Visual Studio is the IDE (but on Windows only), while VSCode is basically Sublime Text from Microsoft.
