    Is the scriptnode transient_designer extrememly CPU hungry?

      Hey guys,

      I've recently felt inspired to get back into scriptnode but I'm finding the transient designer node to be extrememly CPU hungry 😤

      Has anybody else found the same thing?

      I only discovered this after daisy chaining several of them together in series as a workaround to a recent issue discussed here.
      So I guess I have 2 issues with the transient designer so far:

      1. A single use of the transient designer node has a negligible effect on the source sound.

      2. Unexpected high CPU usage both within HISE and on exported DAW plugins when using the transient designer node.

      If anyone has any insight or has come across the same issues please chime in.

      @orange put together a nice snippet a while back which makes good use of the transient designer nodes and you should see high CPU when loading it. Yes, granted it's a dual band transient shaper but it demonstrates what I'm experiencing just the same.

            Ok, so I've abandoned use of the transient designer but the Shape FX module has come to the rescue! Switching the mode to 'Square' and playing about with settings seems to have the effect of increasing the transients on source material.

              haha...my little lappy crashes the second I press a note when running more than two instances..lol Heck this might be best transient plugin out!!!!

                  Is there any scriptnode configuration that you know of that will make the transient_designer less cpu hungry?

                  It's a great addition but pretty much unusable at the moment. Also lot's of them have to be used in series in order to get a noticeable effect which further compounds the cpu issue.

                    I'm pretty sure you can get a good result with one instance and proper gain staging. If you tuck together multiple instances it's pretty clear that there's a lot of CPU wasted.
