Why do plugins sometimes make their data folders in the music folder and sometimes in AppData/Application Support?

No plugins made with HISE do that as far as I'm aware.

@d-healey I'm still trying to my head around all this. Can we use the music folder for installing samples, presets, etc?

Presets go in the UserPresets folder within the AppData folder.
Samples can go almost anywhere you want, but you should ask the user and let them choose where they want them.
