Weird issues with large sample map
-
I'm running into some strangeness with a large multi-mic sample map.
The sample map is around 16GB of wave files. 3 mic positions, merged.
I originally had these samples spread over two sample maps and everything was working fine. Then I merged the two sample maps together and the issues appeared.
-
On first loading the sample map the sample editor window is empty when I select a sample. If I then load a different sample map and then reload the first sample map, the sample editor now shows a waveform, but for the samples of the second sample map. After hitting spacebar to playback the sample it will then show the correct waveform.
-
Lots of the newly added samples show a greyed out waveform and I'm unable to change the SampleEnd.
-
Some of the samples show a purple box (Release Start colour) over the entire greyed out waveform.
-
When I try and convert the sample map to a monolith it tells me one of the samples (but doesn't say which one) has an incompatible sample rate - which as far as I can tell is not the case. I have already compressed all these samples to monoliths several times when the sample maps were separate.
Any help much appreciated.
Here's a video showing what's going on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TNiS5ixCMc

I've recompiled HISE and now my sample map appears to be loading without issue.Turns out I'd moved some samples which is why it loaded. Issue is still there.
But this has lead me down a little route. @Christoph-Hart Is there a limit to the maximum number of samples you can have in a single sample map?
I'm finding if I add one additional sample (even a renamed duplicate of a sample I've already loaded) then the sample map goes all glitchy as described above. If I remove the sample then it loads.
It seems to be occurring once the sample map contains around 8160 samples. Could it be a buffer issue?

@d-healey watching ----- I have a potential new project that wants to load a lot of samples into a single map (up to 8 mic positions per articulation).....
-
@Lindon I ended up splitting the sample map into 3, I was still getting some issues (reported elsewhere on the forum) but I was able to compress them to monoliths and after that the issues went away.

yeah sadly Im not going to be able to do that - as the user wants 8+ articulations to be loaded at once - and I get the feeling we will be pushing the boundaries of No of samplers - given just how complex and large their sample maps will likely be... I guess I will wait and see.

That's no problem (I have about 15 in my current project), just use multiple samplers. The only annoying thing is you have to duplicate the module chain.

yes thats my current plan, so each articulation in its own sampler, but then their are up to 8 mic positions, and numerous round robins - the whole thing gets very big very quickly.....
As to the module chain - I will be utilising a builder as much as possible this time out...

each articulation in its own sampler,
Does each articulation require a different mod chain?
