Upward Compressor in scriptnode?
-
@Straticah there is an envelope follower. I just used it.
-
@DanH oh i meant transient shaper ^^
-
@Straticah You want to make an Expander, correct?
-
@DanH here is a graphic it was not as easy as i thought
its an expander with negative ratio control
-
@Straticah in over 20 years of producing music I've never encountered an 'Upwards Compressor' or an 'Upwards Expander"
-
@DanH i mean usually you dont want to enhance noise in your mix :D
-
@Straticah Absolutely, but I stilI use expanders all the time - far better than compression imo.

Actually, it is a kind of expander, but it is not an expander as we know it.
- A standard Expander expands if it above the threshold.
- In the Upwards Compressor, it expands if it is below the treshold. This is the trick.

Since Drum n Bass is already loud, there may not be much need for it :grinning_squinting_face:

@orange Well I'm pretty sure most expander plugins are upward compressors in that case! I've always understood an expander to behave the way you describe an upwards compressor.
-
@DanH It is my understanding that expanders make the difference in dynamics a wider range where as upward compression brings the quieter sounds up.
-
@FatMitchell I thought I saw a post in here where you can just change the HISE compressor's range values of the knob to be the ratio you need....I'm looking for it but can't find it atm

@d-healey always learning

@FatMitchell waves MV-2 is my go to for this technique. For those that are curious to check out an example.
