Comp Reduction Question
-
Hi, Here is a basic scriptnode question.
I need to use the compressor to control the Gain directly. (For this purpose, it is much better for me rather than using a Math.mul node)
But of course this time, the peak detector of the compressor itself won't show the correct reduction value on the DisplayBuffer since I don't use the Math.mul node.
So what should I do for the correct gain reduction monitoring with this peak meter node?

@resonant Why are you modulating a gain to get the compressor effect? the compressor is already doing the exact same thing.
-
@Christoph-Hart Because that's how I had to do it to use it in a Dynamic Eq project. The same thing will happen when I plug the compressor into a filter node's gain parameter.
Besides, sometimes I need the "Auto Release" function on a compressor. Auto Release means the Release parameter is controlled by another compressor with a short attack & release.
-
Any ideas please?
-
@resonant Engine.getDecibelsForGainFactor maybe? Or you just can get a reference of the difference between the input and the output before any gain compensation, that's actually the gain reduction value.
-
@Soundavid I'll try this, thanks!
