You can enlarge the canvas interface in the develop version up to 200% with the combo box.

BUT up to 300% with command/control and + / -

You can also do so with Ctrl + Scrollwheel. And the zoom centers around the mouse position which took me 8 hours to implement, I'm not kidding...
