What's your guide for maximum height of a plugin?

It's easy to forgot many folks have got small screens, and if they're on Windows with 150% zoom on, the screen real estate is quite small.

        Personal opinion.

I used to produce music on a laptop for many years.

For a screen size of 1920 × 1080 px My favorite large size for a plugin window is:
        1134 × 840 px

This is for a Windows OS scale of 100%.
Any larger than this and I would complain. Since it would get in the way of my work.
This is the ideal size I used to run large synths at.

Actually, even though I have a much larger monitor now, I still run them at around this size.

@dannytaurus I assume an average display of 1920x1080 and then I provide scaling controls so they can adjust it to their liking. If I'm using images (which is rare) I create them at multiple dimensions and load the one that is closest to the UI size on their system.

@David-Healey Ugh. Scaling. Hoping I could get away without it 😂

Do you detect the screen size on launch and pick a scale factor to suit? Because I've had plugins open on small screens where I couldn't access the scale control because it was off screen.

@dannytaurus You could detect it and make it auto adapt. What I've done is put scaling controls in 3 different locations so it's difficult to get stuck.
