Why do Logic and Reaper only let me open one AU plugin at a time while VST works fine?
-
Hello. Can anyone tell me why Logic only lets me open one AU plugin? The same thing happens to me with Reaper. With VSTs there’s no problem. I thought it was because they were trial versions, but it’s not. Thanks.

@lijas90 Can you expand on this please?
Do you mean only one instance of a specific AU on a single track?
Or one AU of any type on a single track?
Or one instance of a specific AU across multiple tracks?
Of one AU of any type across multiple tracks? As far as I know, in Logic you can only have one AU instrument on a track.
Here is Logic with three instances of the same AU open on different tracks:

In Reaper, you can put multiple AU instruments on a single track and the MIDI flows through them.

@dannytaurus I mean that even though I have two completely different AU plugins in the Components folder, Logic or Reaper only detects one of them. I have no idea why. Thanks for replying.

@lijas90 I think it has to do with the project properties in HISE. I’ve tried changing the IDE bundle and the code of each plugin, but it still doesn’t detect both of them. If I replace one with the other, it detects it — but not both at the same time.

@lijas90 do they both have the same plugin id?
-
@lijas90 AU identity uses Type, Subtype and Manufacturer.
Type = aumu (for instruments), set by HISE during export
Subtype = Plugin Code in HISE settings, 4 characters
Manufacturer = Company Code in HISE settings, 4 charactersIf they're all the same, then Logic, and other AU hosts, will only see one plugin.
To verify, check the Info.plist for each one to see if they're the same in the exported plugins.

@lijas90 Also, it could just be a caching issue. Try clearing the AU cache.
I don't like providing destructive terminal commands, especially
rm -rfones, but this one is nice and simple.AT YOUR OWN RISK!
killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrar rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache
