Errors in Visual Studio 2025 compiling hise
-
@David-Healey thank you so much for the super fast reply! I will uninstall 2025 and use the 2022.
-
@Nater it worked but I couldn't use the IPP library with it so I went back to 2022.
-
@David-Healey can I install IPP on a different drive other than the C: drive?
-
@Nater You can, but then you'll have to setup symlinks so that HISE or Visual Studio can find it. The simplest setup is to install it in the default location on the C drive. But you might not even need it unless you're going to be doing stuff with FFT/Convolution.
-
@David-Healey I'm just getting started with this, I did have some dreams of making an impulse response of the acoustics in my yard. But that's down the road a bit and can wait until I upgrade this computer. I'll be doing all the design and heavy lifting on my mac. I only have the Windows machine to export for windows users.
I have yet another question. Which download from the 2022 visual studio do I need. There's a whole list of them.
Professional
Enterprise
Agents for VS 2022
Build tools for VS
Remote tools
Visual c++ restributable for vs
intellitrace standalone collector. And thank you again. Your tutorials were so helpful. It would have taken me ages longer without them. I have one suggestion, maybe on the windows build tutorial add the link to the Visual Studio 2022, the current one takes you to the 2025 one. But, that's just like my opinion, man.
You rock!
-
@Nater Oh I just took another look at that link, it mentions needing a subscription for older versions. Usually I'd say the community edition, but it seems that might not be available.
See if you are able to download the pro version.

At the time time I made the tutorial it went to the 2022 version :) but I think what is needed is for HISE to work with 2025 going forward.
@Christoph-Hart Looks like we need to move to 2025 for newcomers.
-
@David-Healey it said I needed a subscription, but it's free (I hope anyways, I didn't put a card in or anything.
It did let me download the Pro Version. So looks like I'm good to go.
-
@Nater Cool. Let me know if you run into any limitations with it. I'm going to see if I can use the 2025 version. If I can I'll update the lesson notes in the Bootcamp - hopefully I won't need to redo the video.
-
@David-Healey one step forward, one step back. lol.
Downloading 2022 was a success, but when I did the debug with faust it gave me this warning.
The build tools for v145 (Platform Toolset = 'v145') cannot be found. To build using the v145 build tools, please install v145 build tools. Alternatively, you may upgrade to the current Visual Studio tools by selecting the Project menu or right-click the solution, and then selecting "Retarget solution".
-
@Nater Open the Visual Studio installer and add the platform toolset
-
@David-Healey There's no option to install that from the 2022 installer, only up to v143. Do I need to download the 2025 version to get the v145?

It sounds like something has been messed up because of the previous attempt with VS2025. Have you tried cleaning the build before compiling?
-
@David-Healey yes, I'm getting the same error after doing clean solution & clean HISE standalone app.

This post is deleted! -
@Nater I'm installing vs25 now, I'll report back once I've tested
-
So it looks like the latest IPP installer isn't aware of VS 2025

@Nater How are you getting on with VS22?
-
I was able to build with VS25 and IPP, but I had to enable IPP manually by adding the paths into the project within VS. I followed the instructions here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/ipp/get-started-guide-oneapi-windows/2022-2/overview.html
I think we should continue to use VS22 until IPP has integration with VS25.
VS prompted me to install Platform Toolset 143, which I did. Apart from that I had no other issues.
-
@David-Healey 2022 was wanting me to install the v145, which I didn't have in my installer. So I'm kinda stuck right now.
