Table Points, am I going mad?

I've been getting my head around tables for the first time this week, I want to set up some buttons to recall some predefined points and curves. I have managed to do this but am I going mad? Is this really how points work or is there a clearer solution? What is confusing me is the indexes of set points and added points - I've tried to add comments to highlight what I'm talking about - But it took me over a day to realise that after adding points, it is the first 2 points that refer to first and last, rather than 1 and n-1 I even tried to set up some universal variables to make sure I was always setting the right values)- And then it took me even longer to realise that although the first 2 points are first and last when setting, when adding points, the last point added sets the position and curve of the last point (which point 2 when setting) - Surely there is a cleaner way to approach all of this. I'm not sure what kind of help I'm asking for exactly, perhaps just some validation of my feelings of frustration about this, I don't know anymore. Sorry for the long post

The first point is always index 0. The index of the last point depends on the total number of points.
