I released my project!

Hey guys,
To make the installation process even more simple for users, and to provide them with expansion update notifications, I resurrected the downloader app I was working on last year.
If you own one of my Rhapsody libraries and would like to take the first iteration of this app for a spin I'd love to get your feedback.
It can be downloaded from here - https://codeberg.org/LibreWave/Hub/releases/tag/1.0.0
It's pretty easy to use.
- After installing, sign in with your Libre Wave credentials.
- The app will sync with your Libre Wave account.
- You'll see all three Rhapsody instruments, even the ones you don't have a license for.
- There is a filter/search bar at the top (I'm planning ahead).
- When you buy a new instrument you need to click the sync button in the top right to update the app's cache.
- Click the download arrow beneath an instrument to install it. Click the trash icon to uninstall it. Don't close the app while it's installing.
-
@d-healey Wait, some of you are making audio plugins? I thought we just talked about APIs, widgets and LAFs here.
-
@d-healey Great work! I've downloaded the app and gave it a spin.
Here are some bugs that I noticed:
- The downloads icon (arrow down) is not shown after logging in, i had to refresh using the refresh icon.
- No icon on the Harp plugin
- The search does not respect the case so -> "em" finds the Emerald Flute however searching for "Em" does not.
Some general improvements:
- No way of registering account, even a link to the webpage would be helpful.
- There is no Account Section, hovering the Logo is not intuitive way of logging out
( I've seen in multiple user tests that people do not understand clicking the logo) usually Account sections can be found in the top right indicated with a Account/ User icon - I would like to see how big the download is going to be before committing. I need to choose a sample location without knowing how much space is actually needed.
- Why am I prompted to go the website when clicking the image? My recommendation remove the interaction, add a small description about the instrument underneath the heading, showcasing additional information such as license, download size, file formats such as vst, aax ... Add a text button "Visit website" no need for double confirmation. And most importantly make a primary button with a label saying "Install" which downloads and installs the Product. Button text changes to "Remove" when installed.
- Add Button opening my Samples Folder, I always struggle to find where a Library has been installed after a couple of months.
- Add a strong and sane default location for sample downloads, Desktop might not be it.
- Ideally add a setting where I can set my sample location once and reuse that.
Since I am not owning any of your products I could not verify the downloading and installing this is just the stuff that popped up.
-
@oskarsh Oh that's interesting, what happens when you click the download arrow?
-
@d-healey I need to choose a download location, then the license check is running and I am getting and Dialog Box saying You don't have a valid license.
-
@oskarsh Also when trying to download agai I am getting a Download limit reached please contact support.
It would be better to check the license way earlier when syncing the products instead of trying to initialize a download and then erroring out.
-
@oskarsh Ah ok I need to figure out why it's showing the wrong icon. Thanks

Yeah the license check is done during syncing. The second check is a back up in case someone tried to access the download endpoint directly. But you shouldn't be seeing the download button if you don't have a license so I need to check that out.
-
@oskarsh Ok I figured out what's happening. My server is serving cached requests. I need to figure out how to disable that, but at least I don't have to recompile :)
-
Ah this is annoying. The GET request works when ran from Hoppscotch/Postman but when I run it from HISE I get back a cached version of the data.
Any web request experts here? Does HISE add some extra headers to GET requests?
Also if I change the endpoint method to POST and change the call in HISE accordingly it works just fine. But this really should be a GET request.
-
After 7 hours I remember that HISE adds a
/
to the end of POST requests but not GET. So I add one to my GET request and magically it all works!!!! Well I learned a lot today about configuring lscache :) -
@oskarsh New version up - https://codeberg.org/LibreWave/Hub/releases/tag/1.0.1
-
@d-healey I tested version 1.0.1 and now I am not able to download products that I do not own. So everything good here.
Another minor thing I noticed is that the MIME type of the .jpg images indicates that these images are actually .png files. I think there is some potential here to use actual .jpg and compress them to bring down the file size since .png files are usually larger.
-
@oskarsh Thanks for confirming. I'll checkout the mime type thing.
-
I made a new instrument :)
-
@d-healey sounds good! Where do you get these kind of instruments? Do you have an ethnic shop nearby?
-
@Matt_SF I outsource the recording to the musicians who have the instruments. This one we originally recorded a few years ago and released as a Kontakt library.
-
@d-healey ah, that's what I supposed. Thanks for sharing
-
@d-healey Nice sounding instrument, congratulations!!
