      Hey HISE Gang,

So I've compiled multiple AU plugins, all have worked and been visible in DAW. I created another instrument with same settings. AU compiles and is codesigned but does not show up in my DAW folder with rest of .component instruments.

I have created 9 quick instruments and all but 2 have been AU successful. Any suggestions on where to look or what may be going on?

@matt_sf Did you give them all a unique plugin code?

@matt_sf yes, all code signatures were tested and grantee the "satisfies purpose" message or something along those lines.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm using Ableton 10. I've got the AU box in preferences checked. All VST3 show up as well.

@d-healey yes, I even tried changing the plugin code. I will try again with super random codes today just to make sure.

One thing that is a hassle with Mac in this regard is the very slow build time. My windows knocks out one of these builds in a matter of 5 to 10 mins. Mac on the other hand takes over 1 hour from start to complete. And for some reason, I can only compile VST3 or AU separately, even if I choose the VST/AU Export option. Is this common or is something wrong?

@trillbilly could it be as simple that you have to logout and login again to make Ableton to refresh the contents in the plugin folders?

                    @d-healey a I believe a 2013 intel mini Mac running monterey.

@ulrik I tried refreshing the folder multiple times. Also closed and re-opened Ableton with no success.

Is there an "appdata" file created on Mac like windows? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I've had success on windows by removing this file and reinstalling everything.

That's probably why it takes so long. Older system.

                      I'm using Ableton 10.

Try another DAW (Reaper for example) to rule out the DAW being the problem.

Monterey is the latest system 🙂

@d-healey Ok, Ill try another DAW. I believe I have an install of Cubase available.

EDIT: Just learned AU is not compatible with Cubase. Ill be searching for Reaper or another.

@orange Thanks! I looked for the file in the video but do not have an "AudioUnitCache" folder in my "Caches" folder. Nor do I have a file "com.apple.audiounit.cache" file. I have all invisible folders visible as well. Maybe Im missing something.

If you don't have Logic Pro X, you can install GarageBand, which is a free DAW in Mac. It also uses AU plugins too.

@orange Thanks. I downloaded Reaper (Evaluation License) and can confirm the 2 AU Plugins still do not show. May be nice to still download GarageBand just for future tests.

I am exporting again with another unique plugin code. This takes forever so lets cross our fingers!

The file you were explaining in the video, is this kind of like the "appdata" file in windows?

Not the same thing actually. It is a cache file which is AU plugins specific and it needs to be written on every new AU plugin installation, but sometimes it doesn't happen. Are you sure that you looked at the correct folder? AU cache folder should be there.

I have completed another compile with a new unique VST code but still no luck. Very strange as 7 others exported and show fine but 2 will not show at all.

@orange Ill keep digging for the AU Cache Folder. That is my only lead now lol
