Group Solo

It is sometimes helpful to be able to isolate a single RR group when trying to tweak samples, currently I'm doing this via volume control of the groups but it would be handy if there was a little group solo button.

Why not add a ScriptProcessor that sets the RR index to a fixed value to "solo" this group?

It appears that setActiveGroup() doesn't work when Group XF is enabled, is this correct?

Well as soon as the GroupFX is enabled, all groups are supposed to play simultaneously so this method looses its purposes, so yes that would be the case.
