Parametric EQ performance. Mac vs PC
-
Hey Guys,
Does anyone else notice a performance difference between mac/pc when using the Parametric EQ? I have a project with a significant amount of EQ nodes that's pulling about 5% CPU usage on my PC, but when I open on my MAC it's hitting around 25% CPU usage.
Both rigs are i9-9900k and 32GB ram. Do you experience the same with this minimized example?HiseSnippet Looks Like An Atomic Bomb My CPU Spikes Like Crazy Here On Macbook Air Core i5 8 Gb Ram
Goes Up To 40% And Falls To 15% -
Just Bypassed The Eq Modules, Each One Increases The CPU Usage By Around 20%.
And Fan Started To Cooling Down :/ -
@dustbro I saw 100th node in this snippet :)
Have you tried to separate nodes to several parametric eqs? -
@dustbro I opened it on a Macbook Pro 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5 with 4gb ram and CPU is pending between 9 - 11%
-
@orange I haven't tried that cause I plan on outputting the result in a single Filter Display.
-
@ulrik That's what I would expect to see too. Is this an IPP thing? What version do you have installed there?
-
@dustbro 8-10% on my iMac i7 3.5GHz, couldn't test on windows...
-
Turns out to be 100% an IPP thing.
IPP 4.301.2020 = 25% CPU usage
IPP 1.1.2021 = 4% CPU usage -
@dustbro Intresting Founding
So You Just Overwrite The IPP Or Did Rebuilt The Source Code? -
@dustbro Did you have to adjust the IPP paths in Projucer to build with the newer version of IPP? or does it install to the same location?
-
@Natan I had to rebuild HISE after downloading the new version
-
@d-healey I tried to adjust the paths within the projucer project, but that didn't work, so I copied/pasted the new libraries into /opt/intel/
-
@d-healey Sir, This Sounds Like An Improvement To The Hise's Performance, Can You Confirm This Before Messing With Our Working Versions?
Thanks -
@dustbro Ok cool
-
@Natan I don't use IPP much (I don't have it installed on my main system) so can't really confirm anything :p
