Multi Instrument Host
-
Multi-output is cool in a plugin but HISE doesn't offer this in it's native plugin as a host. I can't load a few of my HISE projects that I have scripted into the one instance unless I use my own Voldermort template session to accept multiple scripts/classes/functions then create my instruments using my own Voldermort API within Hise.
BE great for HISE to have a host option to accept these instrument projects. Obviously some would be setup for multi already so limitations would be obvious to begin with. Voldermort has a multi-instrument format which can be handy. I can imagine this would be amazing tech to house stores and plugins within the framework too. -
I don't what you're talking about. What is "Voldermort API"? what is "native plugin as host"? What do you mean by multi-output? (HISE supports multiple outputs)

Voldermort is the sampler by which we never name. So I call my host scripts on HISE by this convention. Hise runs as host VST but cannot run more than one project/session at a time. It needs a multi session host......like Voldemort.....I'm trying to be covert.
Say you want to quickly run a VST plugin that will host every articulation you have ever created on an instrument.....you can't do that with HISE...yet.

Right now I understand you. HISE is not a host, it is a tool to build plugins. Kontakt is a host, it hosts NKIs. The two programs are entirely different in this respect.
There was an idea for a HISE player a few years ago but that's no actively being developed as far as I know. If you want to host multiple instruments in your HISE project you can already do this, but there are a lot of limitations. The best solution currently is to create a single plugin that can load different expansions or presets (current the expansion system is broken though).
This would be able to load only a single sample library/instrument at a time so the user would need to load multiple instances to have more than one instrument. Having multiple instances isn't really a problem though as HISE shares resources (like images) between instances to save memory so it doesn't increase the resource footprint very much compared to loading multiple NKIs inside Kontakt.

Having an instrument with multiple articulations - as opposed to "hosting" multiple instruments - is already possible. You can separate articulations using key range, key switches, velocity, program changes, CC, channels, and presets.

Does Hise run a server and host multiple images? I haven't noticed that to this date. Would be cool if it did....would make every idea I'm talking about easy to code up.
-
Please don't think I am critiquing anything towards the project......I can see an amazing value Chris has managed to build over they years. As an open source project I think adding this feature is another step to the process of opening the project.
-
@d-healey I understand your point too. If I have created an instrument and wish to run it as part of a multi instrument in Hise......much like I can do in Voldermort(Kontakt!!!)...can't do. We need this.

I don't see how you can add it as a feature since HISE isn't a host.

There's no server, it just shares the memory.

Again, you don't run your instruments in HISE. HISE is not a host, it's a tool to build plugins.

Linux was the last system it was ever designed for and you don't see this. I was pushing linux way before you ever thought it was viable.

What's this got to do with the rest of the thread?
