Scriptnode Synth smoothes transients??
-
Hi mates, I'm working on a kick instrument in Faust. Transients are VERY important for the sound I wish.
Thing is that the same code sounds different if I play it into a Scriptnode Syntheszier rather than a Script FX with a midi chain.
Question: Does Scriptnode Syntheszier or Midi Envelopes do some kind of smoothing somewhere? I set 0ms for attack but still not sounding the same.
Video and screenshoot showing it!
-
@hisefilo I've got the same thing.
-
Try removing the default envelope and add your own scripted envelope.
-
@aaronventure thanks mate! added an empty Scripted Envelope and still smoothing. Do you have any example on how to script a simple envelope on HISE script?

It's a bit funky, still.
Do you even need the scriptnode synth if your output is supposed to be monophonic?
The point of the scriptnode synth is that it offers the built in voice paradigm and supports HISE's polyphony for modulators etc.
The attack being soft is still weird. I notice in one example in your video, you forget to turn off the scriptnode synth while playing the FX version.
-
A synth voice resets the internal state of each note and that might cause eg the gain node to ramp in its gain from silence (depending on the smoothing time). I guess it‘s something like that
-
@aaronventure Thanks a lot !!!
I can do it monophonic but have to deal with midi into a ScriptFX. (And glitches on fast repeating notes)
Yes! I missed the scriptnode turned on on a moment.
tried the snipped, but same results
-
@Christoph-Hart I get the same results with or without a gain node :(
Any other place to edit the source an see how if blows in parts?
Any clue?
