      Hi
      We've been late to sign the developer licenses for VST2 plugins with Steinberg. I've sent a couple of mails 2 months ago and they gave this answer;

      "Nevertheless, We have asked several people at Steinberg support again, but unfortunately we cannot make any exceptions. That would also be unfair to the other users, who have now switched to VST 3. I woluld like to inform you that Ableton live 10.1 Beta support VST 3 now."

      Isn't the time for makng vst 3?

            Yes, I also heard that Ableton supports it now. This might be last big host that's lacking VST3 support, so it might become time to look into adding support for VST3.

              Well, they look are quite slow on VST3 license. I sent mine on 6 February and get this reply on 9:

                @remarkablex is vst3 any better than 2? Why should I start supporting it?

                  @hisefilo Of course vst3 is much more better than vst2 with economic high performance cpu and graphics. You can see here Because vst2 is 20 years old technology (released in 1999). Even VST3 is 10 years old :) VST2 is dead (Creator Stienberg killed it) So everyone will be forced to do this at last ;)

                      VST 2 supports inputs on VSTi, in fact the only thing it offers that was not achieved in VST 2 is its ability to create channels for chains, everything else was already done in 2 with extensions by various developers.

                      Having said all that, VST 3 had major issues with presets according to a lot of developers and took a long time to mature in to an acceptable plugin format, it is only just now becoming a viable alternative, 20 year old tech in this case means matured to the point of ultimate reliability.
