I want to create a synth from sample source - what is the best way?
-
I want to record some of my analog synths into wavetables and make a synth out of that.
A few times now i heard the wavetable module is broken and buggy. Is that true?
I have seen a post where someone tried to create a wavetable synth with the sampler.
Id love to know what you guys think is the ebst approach. I feel multisampling is overkill for recording my analog waveforms etc.

@Straticah Try out the wavetable converter.
- Create a samplemap with your samples just as you would if you want to use them in a sampler
- Load this sample map into the wavetable converter and play around with the resynthesis parameters. This is a complex procedure and your mileage will vary but I could get pretty good results from basic tests using a saw wave from my Moog Grandmother
Be aware that you can use the duration of the samples to create a parameter that can be modulated using the table index (so if you eg. play a note with a decaying filter that is about 3 seconds long, you can use the table index later as a frequency modulation).

@Christoph-Hart thats great! I think i saw that example the other day when browsing the HISE examples folder. If i could go that route this would be amazing and save tons of disk space.
For me it works fine but i read that people on the forum try to avoid it and i want to know why.

i want to know why.
Because it's not a one-click solution so if you expect a drag & drop workflow you're in for a frustrating experience. Also some use cases are particularly difficult if not impossible. I think the one you referring to tried to convert super artificial FM distorted waveforms with lots of harmonics and this is where the resynthesis algorithm has its limitations.

@Christoph-Hart alright, just gave me the feeling its bugged/unsave etc.
But if its just more work i am open to that since it brings a lot of benefits to the table for me. :)
thx for the response!

@Straticah it's definitely buggy and will crash on you a few times along the way, but once you've created those sweet sweet .hwt files you'll be overwhelmed by a sensation of glorious achievement.

@Christoph-Hart oh i dont mind as long as its relatively stable on user side after export :)

I should try it on Brass instruments asap

@Christoph-Hart i am trying to create my own wavetables eventho i have my bpm set to 323.28 which means 4096 samples for a 2/4 bar at my 44.1 samplerate its not working using the resample mode.
I will see if i find a tutorial maybe my approach to this is currently incorrect.
