      Hi all,

I'm trying to work something out (and probably over complicating it)

I have a send effect routing set up for a 100% wet reverb on 3+4, and the dry signal is on 1+2.

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to set up a compressor to have the reverbed signal duck in volume only when the dry signal is played and then the volume come back up for the tail of the reverb to be heard, so it's essentially just using the dry signal as a sort of sidechain trigger.

It's very easy to do this in Ableton but is there a way to do this in hise? I've tried the dynamics module in a few places in the chain but it's still not working out the way I imagined. I'm probably overlooking something very simple.

      Any help appreciated :)

        @SteveRiggs said in Reverb Experiment...:

so it's essentially just using the dry signal as a sort of sidechain trigger.

        Here's your answer, the sidechain

I never did it myself in Hise but I think a way to do it would be in scriptnode. Something like extracting the envelope of the dry signal, and from here modulate the threshold of the compressor maybe.

@ustk Sounds like it could work. I just had a look at the envelope follower. Unsure how that's working though at the moment, or how I'd extract the envelope from the signal on 1+2 and have the compressor affecting only 3+4. It's definitely a lot more complicated than it should be! 🤣

@SteveRiggs Lol I just made my own envelope follower and finally discovered there's one already 😂

@ustk 🤣 Gutted. I only just noticed it myself.

                Hey @SteveRiggs and @ustk...

Did any of you guys work out how to duck a reverb signal based on the envelope/volume of a dry signal?

Cheers and hope you're both good ☺

@LeeC I didn’t yet dude. Not sure if its possible without being able to use an audio input as a trigger. Theres been a lot of posts the last little bit everyone wanting to get sidechaining to work so I assume until that is possible then we’ll be stuck on this one also. Would be awesome if we can find a way to get it working. I’ll look into it when I get back to my reverb plugin 🙂 Just finishing up 3 others at the moment but its not far down the list afterwards.

@SteveRiggs yeah a getting sidechain implemented into HISE is the way forward.
Ok cool, hope all the projects are going well man 🙂

This is possible if you connect the compressor reduction to the knob of a Simple gain.
Just route the compressor nowhere and use the compression value of the Compressor to modulate a Simple gain on the wet path.
