Building HISE Standalone on macOS with Xcode crashes
-
Hi,
I'm trying to build HISE on my old MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2014), but Xcode crashes when progress is 133/145. The whole build was a slow battle of freezing all the time (like, couldn't move the cursor normally etc.). When it had processed the 133/145 step for a while, the laptop went to a state where I saw the Apple logo, under it a progress bar 1/3 full, and a processing logo circle thing that's not moving. Then the screen just went black, and nothing happened afterwards. I'm sure this laptop is not ideal for this, but still, it would be awesome to be able to do this. Here is more info:
macOS Big Sur
Version 11.7.2Processor 1,4 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3There were quite a lot of warnings (yellow triangles) throughout the process. Couldn't copy them as everything was freezing all the time.
Basically, I have a plugin, which I can modify with my Windows PC, and build it using HISE, but I need a macOS version of that also. So, I guess this is the way, but I'm not sure if it's possible with my old MacBook.
I used David Healey's How to compile HISE with Faust on MacOS 2025 | HISE Bootcamp Full Course for this, went step by step.
So, any ideas?

@HIKuukkeli it sounds like you're maxing out your CPU. It might be a better option for you to use a virtual machine on your Windows computer instead.

@d-healey Thank you, I'll look into that option!
