Hello fellow devs,
My question goes around the possibility of creating an Open Source Pipe Organ sampleset player.
Right now, there is one somewhat advanced Open Source Pipe Organ Sampler solution, in the form of GrandOrgue . The problem is that, even if it can reproduce the functioning of most organ elements, its audio engine is lacking, and the GUI code is mostly mixed with the core, so it's difficult to modify. The good think is that there are tons of excellent samplesets using its format, and the configuration format itself is plain text, already wrapped with C++ and python routines.
So my moonshot idea would be to create a Pipe Organ sampleset player with HISE, loading the GrandOrgue configuration files and samples, and replacing the old RTAudio and RTmidi libraries with HISE, with a clear engine and GUI code separation. I did simple experiments with the HISE Frontend and I was able to load a couple of GO stops with simple GUI elements for activating/deactivating stops and applying reverb/chiff enhancer to them, it sounded beautifully.
Do you think such a project could be done with limited dev muscle? I'd love to create a collaborative project around this, but I understand Pipe Organs aren't everyone's cup of tea.
Ok, enough chat for the moment, getting the ball rolling, let me know your thoughts!
Best.
