its from the hise tutorial master,zip downloaded from this site. i chanced nothing, just opened the musicbox example project.
i think it got somehow something to do with creating the monolith file because i created a new sample map en loaded the samples and everything works as expected until i hit the make monolith button
someone know how to zip in win 10

Althought wat you are saying sound plausible, its nor the solution.
when i load your example project "musicbox" i got the same results.
i also got the warning: :! Loading embedded samplemaps is bad practice. Save the samplemap to a file instead.
not sure it got something the do with it.

I'm hearing pitched noises instead of the samples
I.m on win 10 and using hise 2.o build 650
