Anyone know how to recover a broke project?

basically i restarted hise and now my past 3 or so saves wont load. both xml and .hip. it hangs here

Do you have a backup/commit that works?
Do you know what you changed between the last time it worked and now?

@d-healey yes i checked the last few xml files. i save both xml and hip profusely because of how hise is but my most recent back up is from a month ago and sadly a lot of progress will be lost. ive been working on this project for quite some time. i exported successfully earlier today. the only change was adding up and down midi octave buttons but that worked flawlessly.

its hanging on loading the sampler. can i edit one of the saves and remove the sampler module from it then try loading again? i see the code in notepad but theres a lot of symbols i cant tell where to edit it out

I meant the two XML files that form the project. There is ProjectName.xml, and inside the ProjectNameUIData folder there is another xml file. Did you check both?

Get an automated daily backup system. And use git.

and sadly a lot of progress will be lost.

I think we will be able to get your project back. I haven't lost anything of a HISE project yet. And you have saved the xml so there should be no problem.

If the XML files still look good then send me the project (without the samples and binaries folders) and I'll take a look.

You'll probably find it easier in a text editor that colour codes the xml tags. Try Atom or CudaText or VSCodium.

@d-healey i got back into it! im using notepad++ but i was looking at the .hip and not the xml. in the xml i deleted the sampler block and saved it and it loads up now :D
