Rename Samplemaps?

Hey hopefully this makes sense...but working on a project and need to rename some sample maps that I've already converted to monoliths and have the saved XML files in the samplemaps folder...but having trouble...I've tried renaming both the file name in both the samplemaps and the samples folder but in all cases it messes up the references in the plug-in and in the preset browser...how do I change the names to these files/XMLs without messing up the references in the plugin and throwing off my preset browser and or starting over from scratch?

@johnmike the maps get compiled INTO your plugin so you cant do this without having to recompile your plugin.
