Undo/Redo: How to Find the End and Beginning of the History?

Does anyone know how to tell when we're at the boundaries of the History?
- User has undone back to where there are no more steps to undo. (We should disable our undo button.)
- User is at the front of the History, either by redoing or by performing new operations. (We should disable our redo button.)
