Romplur vs Maize Sampler still HISE Rocks
-
Today I found out about another feature that makes HISE rock for me:
The decay curve of a HISE modulator is way closer to an ideal logarithmic one than I know it from Kontakt, Battery and many other software instruments. This comes very handy to me as I love to model analog synth drum sounds in digital realm. To anyone looking for details on that:
Battery 4 and Kontakt 5 have a very steep curve, tending to almost linear – which is very different to how a native sound will decay.
HISE has a much finer finer curve, mimicking an almost perfectly logarithmic decay. With only a little imperfection: It breaks if it reaches -59.4 dbFS. See my comparison graphs below.
One thing I was surprised of to learn was that the Decay Curve parameter seems to not really alter the shape significantly. Turning it up to 100% makes it still look logarithmic like on 0% but seems to extend the actual time value. But that's not a problem to me as I rarely ever want a non-logarithmic decay.

@David-Healey do you know where I can Purchase HISE Templates of Premade proejects.

@jacintonegro i do not. What did you have in mind?

There’s a whole reddit thread on ROMPLUR being sketchy and scamming people…..

Since this post has been revived, I'll just leave a comment about Maize Sampler.
Yes, it's very basic, and yes there are a lot of features missing.
But here's the thing - I've built a full-time income from plugins made in Maize Sampler.
It's not really down to the tools you use. Even with basic tools making basic plugins, you can still build a business if you have [1] good ideas and [2] a good audience.
The reason I moved to HISE is so I can build even better plugins for my audience, but I probably be in the place I'm in without Maize Sampler.

@David-Healey a simple plugin like this one https://youtu.be/ZJzM4vZOe5U?si=3NdD8vMRnwPaRj8q
Let me know if you know anyone selling templates that could save time programming . money is no object.
-
@jacintonegro I don't know of anyone selling things like that. It would be a whole project rather than a template. If money is no object though then you could hire a developer to make whatever you want. Speak to @Lindon

@David-Healey Thanks for the Contact and it's an Honour to say hello to THE DAVID HEALEY

I started with Maize Sampler and I still think it's a great little tool for getting started making your own sample library VSTs. It's a fabulous entry point.
Romplur is a poorly executed mess and a complete scam.
There's another one in development right now called CREATR. I can't quite get a read on it, but I'll keep my eyes open.
For those of us who don't have a background in programming, HISE can be a little tricky to get going, but once you're there, there's absolutely nothing like it. That degree of flexibility and customization along with a lot of pre-programmed tools right out of the box makes it the obvious choice. There are occasional hiccups, but even with those factored in it's a remarkable framework for amateurs and experts. I really can't recommend it enough.
