Knob Trigger via Midi Notes?

Hi there!
I have a question for a plug in that i am designing. I want to visualize Keyboard Notes on a Bass guitar!
I thought it would be the best that i can move around triggered dots of notes on an image of a bass. I dont know how to connect each midi input to a button tho that would display the on and off state of each note. I would also use this to create custom midi keyboards for VSTs - Any help on this?

Guitar stuff is a lot of fun but not beginner friendly. I was working on a guitar project a few years ago which I have yet to finish. I documented some of the work on my Patreon page.

You don't want to use buttons, you want to use a panel. I have a video about creating a custom keyboard using a panel that will get you started, but you'll need to substitute the keyboard graphics for a fret board.

@d-healey oh this looks quite advanced
but pretty cool! Alright will have a look into your panel video, but seems that chords are a new chapter that is clearly too advanced for me.
I have seen you a lot on YT and this forum, by any chance do you also work as freelance?
I could use some in depth help from time to time on my projects. Especially in LAF coding.
