What functions should we consider for a virtual patch bay?

We'd like to use the cablebox:
To create a patchbay with a row of modulators (LFOs, envelopes, sequencers etc), and a row of inputs (volume/pan etc), so you could drag LFO-1 to VOLUME-1 above to modulate volume-1 with the LFO.
Also, some way to control how much amplitude of the LFO is affecting the volume-1 so you can reduce or increase the amount of effect it has on it?
Can multiple cables be connected to a single output input? e.g. two LFO's into one volume input, where their modulations are summed? or more simple and also pretty compulsory, one LFO which can modulate multiple inputs at once from a single output with multiple "cables"?

Take a look at the example patch for the CableBox, it uses the Global Modulator System to implement the source / target matrix.
Basically for each source you need a modulator (e.g. LFO) in the Global Container and for each target you have a Global Modulator per source which are bypassed / enabled if the cable box connects the source and the target.
The intensity of each target modulator can be set independently. And you use the same source multiple times or use multiple sources on one target.

Ah so envelopes cannot work in this way. This is quite a problem, as envelopes are a major component of any route-able modulation setup. Is there some sort of work-around to also allow envelopes to be routed as modulators to multiple inputs?
What about using a simple sequencer as a modulator this way too? A set of steps/sliders like an arp

You can simply use multiple envelopes - the global modulators are just more convenient when applicable.
With Sequencer you mean something like a LFO with a SliderPack?

A sequencer like the adm06 - it plays through the steps (triggered by a key press) like an ARP, but instead of pitch data, each step contains modulation data to be sent to its target. This way you can create patterns to send to a filter etc
