Helllo everyone / Audio Unit for *very* old Mac?
-
Hi all,
first post!

I came here because I feel I might be ready for something like this now.
I was wondering if I can use HISE to create an AU instrument for a 2010 build Mac Mini OS (10.6.8) running Logic Pro 9.1.6.
I thought about a simple sampler instrument with ADSR and an adjustable start point (loop points, automation and GUI optional) – something Logic weirdly never had all this time (I think it does now).
I guess I might just get a new DAW at this point but to be honest using the same setup for going on 16 years has become a bit of a point of pride for me, and I've always wanted to try my hand at writing a plugin.
Is this even practical? I guess the compatibility could be a bit of a logistics problem.
Thanks,
Marco

@Bonteburg I think the oldest officially supported version of OSX is 10.7
I'm guessing this is just for your own use, so why not use one of the many sampler plugins that already exist? Or use SFZ instead?

@David-Healey Hah that's that then :D. By a hair.
Yes it would have been a bespoke little thing just for my needs.
I'm not very hopeful about finding plugins. The Mac market in the 2000s was infamously sparse, especially in the sampler realm.
Still, it's a thought that didn't occur to me, thanks. I'll try and do a bit of research.
Cheers :-)
