Updating Installation Documentation
-
Is there any possibility of updating the installation documentation for HISE? It seems like the current best solution is to simply go to setup.hise.dev, but there's no mention of that anywhere I've seen. (I only came across it because someone asked the AI monster.) All the documentation and guides I've seen use resources that are no longer part of the package. The prebuilt version is an option, but there's a fairly consistent message that you should be building from source to get the current version of the software.
Honestly any mention of setup.hise.dev would be good. The script works great and the directions are very clear. I just never saw any indication that I should go there.

@username1234 The current documentation is correct for the current stable release of HISE - although it's ancient. I expect the documentation will be updated soon once HISE 5 is ready and the new way of working is finalised.
setup.hise.dev - This is only a week old, so experimental.

@David-Healey ah. So the "correct" installation method is to install the stable release, add in the vst, asio, and ipp libraries, then clone and compile the newest version? Would I be better off deleting the "setup.hise.dev" install and using this approach instead?

Nope you definitely don't want to install the stable version, it's ancient. I'm just saying that the documentation was up to date for the master branch, not that you should use it.
Stick with setup.hise.dev, it's the new system and needs testing anyway.

@username1234 this is a thing that I vibecoded last week - it‘s super fresh but yes once that is tested a bit it will definitely be recommended as the preferred way of getting hise setup for development. Just be a bit more patient my friend.
