@Lindon yeah, that's gain for you. When it's at 50%, that's - 6db. But going from 0.20 to 0.10 is 12-13 dB difference or so.
The display is not linear.
You can compare the gain readings on the meter in the analyser window. But you already have these in the converter node.

@Lindon What is strange is that, does your faust node compress or expand with these settings?
Because then the difference should be larger for compression with higher velocity, suggesting there's something wrong with the detector.
I would understand compression makes a difference of 12 to 13 (lo vel to hi vel), but not the opposite, or it would be an expander...

@Lindon ah woops, just delete line 78 onward - in this case pulling the values to the script is not necessary. but the panels are clearly not showing the same output, the one below is quieter.
now they're linear outputs of -dB from 0 to -100. before, -6dB was halfway up. now -50dB is halfway up. the good thing about this setup is that you can now go into the scriptnode where the who modchains are, add a pow node right before the peak nodes and adjust your display skew that way until you get the curve you want.

For example, skew of 11.19 would get you roughly to the same look as if you just displayed the gain 0-1, where -6dB would be halfway up. don't forget to adjust the range both in Scriptnode and in the interface if you don't like

yes the lower panel seems to be quieter, and assuming this is the "after" panel we are pretty much back where we started - the inflator is an expander - so it should be higher not lower....Meanwhile the skew seems to be connected to some non-existant node called unscaller, and removing that doenst seem to allow it to connect to either of the pow nodes...they seem to be from some other network:
so I cant get anything to connect to the pow nodes, and still the text display = 1.0...As I say I think we should just call it quits here.
Actually I got the pow to work - bu tthe advantage over just displaying the original pre and post peaks escapes me... hey ho, lets all move on.. thanks.
