Dexed: I'm not a programmer. Maybe dexed is just a good example. It is a Yamaha DX7. Fm synth that can work from Dexed or DX7 or SynthFm sound settings. It is an unused and underappreciated potential. Faust already has a full DX7 model capability, and Faust is in Hise... -

Recording samples is one way sure.
You could always do a hybrid. Sample analog oscillators and then create simulations of the filter / FM and other features so that the user can synthesise. -
